Our Ministries
Mission Ministries

Mission – service and witness beyond the congregation – is very important to the members of Countryside. The three main areas of mission that we generously support involve mission in the Omaha area, UCC denominational support and international projects. Our Board of Christian Outreach (BOCO) directs the financial and volunteer resources of Countryside.
Local Mission
Locally, the Board of Christian Outreach (BOCO) is responsible for the allocation of financial grants for smaller groups and organizations. This is done annually through a grant request process. Brush Up Nebraska Paint-a-thon, Child Saving Institute, The Hope Center for Kids, La Casa del Pueblo and R.E.S.P.E.C.T² are examples of the areas we support.
They also direct the two special mission offerings – the Christmas and Easter offerings. The Christmas offering is allocated to a local agency.
Countryside Church has been instrumental in the development and continued financial and volunteer support of two outreach agencies in the Omaha area.
- Together, Inc. of Metropolitan Omaha is an emergency relief organization for people in crisis who are in need of clothing, food, shelter, medical or placement assistance. To learn more click on www.togetheromaha.org.
- Samaritan Counseling Center is a faith-based non-profit professional counseling center for families and individuals. To learn more click on www.sccmne.org.
National and International Mission
Countryside is major contributor to the wider mission of the United Church of Christ (OCWM – Our Church’s Wider Mission). These contributions support the work of the Nebraska Conference of the United Church of Christ (www.uccnebraska.org) and the work of the national and international missions of the United Church of Christ (www.ucc.org). By banding together with other congregations, we bring light and help to all the world!
Each year, our Easter offering supports a specific international organization chosen by BOCO. Save Our Children, Hope Through Health and Heifer International are examples of organizations we have supported in the past.
Annually, budgeted monies are allotted to the Los Chavalitos Clinic in Managua, Nicaragua, which was born out of the generous donations of Countryside Church and the Omaha Rotarians. This clinic’s mission is to combat infant mortality by providing pediatric care in an impoverished community.
