Countryside Church has one of the celebrated music ministries in Omaha! We have many excellent opportunities for expressing our faith through music. Our music rooms are bustling with activity on weekdays and Sundays as our singers prepare for worship services. Each group participates at least monthly in services of worship and in other special programs throughout the year.
Adult Choirs
- Chancel Choir – The Chancel Choir is a “traditional” church choir for post-high school youth and adults. This choir sings each week for one of the worship services. The choir sings a broad variety of musical styles, from Bach to gospel and everything in between. Something to fit every taste! This choir often performs extended works with instrumental accompaniment for special services throughout the church year. Regular rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:30-9:00 PM. ALL are welcome, no auditions needed!
- Spirit of Grace – is a group of adults of all ages that explore contemporary church music, from upbeat traditional anthems, to contemporary Christian, and gospel music. This group rehearses on Wednesdays from 6:15-7:15 PM while creative activities are offered for young children. This choir generally sings once or twice each month, alternating between the first and second services. If you enjoy singing more contemporary music, this is probably the group for you!

Youth Choirs
- Faith Singers – is a choir for grades 9-12. The Faith Singers come from high schools all over the metro area. You need not be a Countryside member to participate. The choir rehearses each Sunday from 5-6 PM and sings each week during the school year for one of our worship services. This group sings mostly traditional youth church music yet also includes a wide variety of styles from classical to gospel. The Faith Singers tour for about eight days each June after school gets out, spreading the message of God’s love through their music.
- Covenant Choir – is for middle school youth in grades 7 and 8. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:45-7:30 PM in the Junior Choir Room. This group sings monthly in worship, often providing short dramatic sketches, as well.
Children’s Choirs
- Pilgrim Choir – is for children in the fourth through sixth grads and is directed by Holly Englerth. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 5:45-6:30 PM.
- Carol Choir – Carol Choir is for children in the 2nd and 3rd grades. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings in conjunction with Wednesday Night Alive, our evening of multiple offerings for many age groups. Amy Lempke directs the Carol Choir.

Music and Movement Classes
Music and Movement: an opportunity for older adults to keep physically fit, (a 45 minute class with stretching, weights, resistance bands, and the equivalent of a two-mile walk), to sing and reminisce with music of the 20th century (everything from Gershwin to gospel), and to enjoy fellowship with like-minded adults. The class meets on Monday and Thursday mornings, every week, year-round (except for July vacation). Scheduled sessions are :
- 9:00am: walking laps in gym (on your own)
- 9:30am: exercise class (women only) in gym
- 10:15am: singing in the choir room
- 11:00am: co-ed exercise in gym
(weights and resistance bands are furnished)
We have four social “gatherings” during the year. We keep updated on senior issues, share our life experiences, and find wonderful friendships together. This class is open to all and there is no charge. For more information, contact Betty Baddley (402-445-9632).
