“Preach the Gospel at all times. If necessary, use words.” This saying, attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, creates a backdrop for our Lenten worship series, “The Journey to Jerusalem.” In this series, painting, poetry, music, drama, and other art forms will be used at both Sunday services to cast new light on ancient stories of Jesus’ life, teachings, and acts of compassion. Where necessary, words will be used – but primarily for the function of pointing to meanings that are too deep for words to convey.
