Countryside Community Church joins the world in mourning the recent shootings at Club Q in Colorado Springs, the Chesapeake, Virginia Walmart, and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. We stand in solidarity and sorrow with victims of violence there and across the country.
At least five people were killed and 18 more injured at the LGBTQ club nightclub, and at least six people died in the Walmart mass shooting – just a week after a shooting at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville left three dead.
There have been more than 600 mass shootings so far this year in the United States, according to the Gun Violence Archive. Mass shootings (where four or more people, not including the shooter, are injured or killed) have averaged more than one per day this year. Not a single week in 2022 has passed without at least four mass shootings.
May God comfort those who have lost family and friends in the Charlottesville, Virginia, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Chesapeake, Virginia communities.[1]
