Join us Wednesday, Jan. 25, for a special screening of The Last Prairie with documentary filmmaker and Creighton University professor John O’Keefe. The event includes a Q&A session with O’Keefe following the screening.
The Last Prairie offers an intimate portrait of the Sandhills, presented through the voices of three different communities: ecologists who study the region’s biodiversity; people who live and work there; and Native Lakota people whose ancestors were killed to make way for American westward expansion.
O’Keefe is a Professor of Theology and Journalism at Creighton University. His past academic research focused on the history and theology of ancient Christianity, especially in the area of ancient interpretation of the Bible, environmental theology, and rethinking Christian attitudes toward nature. The documentary filmmaker is also co-founder of the Backpack Journalism project, a social justice filmmaking initiative.
