SUMMARY OF PROPOSED BYLAW CHANGES FOR THE FEB. 9, ANNUAL MEETING
ARTICLE V – MEMBERSHIP.
Section 5. Termination of Membership or Change of Status.
The prescribed role of the Board of Deacons changes from actively considering each request for transfer or dismissal to simply receiving a summary of such requests from the Clerk at least once a year.
The Board of Deacons will also no longer be charged with contacting those individuals for the purpose of attempting to secure their continuation as Countryside members. Instead, church staff will inform each requester that, if desired, he/she may discuss the contemplated change with a minister or with the Chair of the Board of Deacons.
ARTICLE X – BOARDS:
Sections 1 through 9:
Changes the name of the “Board of Arts and Music” to the “Board of Arts Ministry.”
Standardizes the wording of how many adult members will serve on each Board:
The Board of ________ shall consist of at least ____ (##) adult members, one-third of whom shall be elected annually to serve a term of three (3) years, …
Retitles the leader of the Arts Ministry program from “Minister of Music” to “Director of Arts Ministry.”
Expands the focus of the Board of Arts Ministry to “help[ing] develop and sustain multidisciplinary arts programming for all ages, including, but not limited to, musical, visual and performance arts and education…”
Expands the minimum size of the Board of Pastoral Care from six (6) to twelve (12) members.
Adds the Agape Team to the groups that will have representation on the Board of Pastoral Care.
