Join Rev. Dr. Keith D. Herron, Interim Pastor at Countryside Community Church, for this session of Making the Familiar Strange as we explore the story of Abram and Sarai. The ancient story of Abram and Sarai is a universal model for faith that gets re-enacted every day somewhere, anytime a desert nomad crosses an unmarked border from one country to another in search of a land of promise. Such a desert nomad may believe she or he is following an inner impulse planted there by God. On the road, there is the hope of finding shelter, food, and water to stay alive. This is a narrative consideration of an ancient story that unites us all in the Tri-Faith partnership.

Making the Familiar Strange is an opportunity for interfaith dialogue that inspires people of different religious and nonreligious backgrounds to read the same text together. Rather than providing answers, creating arguments, or shutting down conversation, Making the Familiar Strange gives attendees an opportunity to investigate and share different perspectives on the same texts.
While not required, the program is best if you have access to the stories, which can be through a physical copy or online copy of a Bible, Tanakh, and/or Quran.
